Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – De Palma has recently received The Halal Journal Awards 2011 (Travel & Hospitality) at the 6th Halal Journal Awards Gala Dinner held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Monday, April 4, 2011.
The Halal Journal Awards, first awarded in 2006, are the Halal Industry’s most prestigious and sought after Awards. They are a symbol of excellence and distinction and mark milestone achievements within the industry. They also serve as a barometer on the progress of global Halal industry as a whole.
The 6th Halal Journal Awards paid tribute to eight companies and individuals from around the world, for their ourstanding initiaties in eight categories. Nominations for the Halal Journal Award came from all over the world including United Kingdom, United States of America, New Zealand, Malaysia and Kuwait and were judged by a jury of Halal industry specialists based on set of criteria of innovation, vision, impact and benefit for the Halal industry as a whole.
Out of the eight movers and shakers of the industry, De Palma was the proud winner for the Travel & Hospitality Category in recognition of its Syariah Complaint hotel concept.
Tn Hj Roslan Baharuddin, Chairman of De Palma Management Services Sdn Bhd (DPMS) received the Award from former Prime Minister, YABhg Tun Abdulalah Ahmad Badawi, at the 6th Halal Journal Awards Gala Dinner, held alongside the 6th World Halal Forum at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur.
“The continuous branding actively by De Palma has paid off, even though they were many setbacks when it was first started”, says Tn Hj Roslan Baharuddin.
The Award ceremony was attended by dignitaries as well as World Halal Forum delegates, partners and guests including Y. Bhg. Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas Zainol Abidin, Group General Manager of De Palma Hotels and Tn Hj Razwan Resat, Director of Biztel Sdn Bhd. The dinner event was organized by The Halal Journal Awards Secretarieat, KasehDia Sdn Bhd.

The ceremony, organized by SMI & SME Worldwide Network, gave out awards for a total of categories, honouring the achievements of various business especially SMIs and SMes businesses in Malaysia and their immence contribution to the countrys economy.
Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas said, The hotel business is something you have to be in the thick of. You have to be hands-on in the business. If you just delegate work and do not follow through, it does not work. Thats what is important as service provider in the hospitality industry.
As a business management leader in the hospitality industry, Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas said, We have taken the risk and have succeeded in turning a conventional hotel to a syariah complaint hotel, which has caught the attention of the industry. De Palma has now becomes a name to be reckon a brand of its own.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - Y. Bhg. Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas Zainol Abidin, Group General Manager of De Palma Group of Hotels, was the proud recipient of the Business Leadership Award (Hospitality Sector) at the 2nd Malaysian Business Leaders Award (MBLA) 2010 ceremony, held at the Grand Ballroom of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas received the award from Y. B. Datuk Seri Nor Omar, Agriculture and Agro-based Minister, at the prestigious ceremony which consisted of government ministers, foreign diplomats and dignitaries from the Middle East representing their respective countries chamber of commerce.
The ceremony, jointly organized by the Kuala Lumpur Chamber of Commerce (KLMCC) and The Leaders Magazine, gave out awards for a total of 38 categories, honouring the achievements of various high profile business leaders in Malaysia and their immense contributions to the countrys economy.
Datuk Hj Mohd Ilyas said, The hotel business is something you have to be in the thick of. You have to be hands-on in the business. If you just delegate work and do not follow through, it does not work. The key to success, he said, is through hard work. Yes, you have to work smart but you have to be smart first before you can work smart.
